Dacosta's Pizza Bakery in Worcester has closed shortly after the Neapolitan-style restaurant reduced its hours by closing several days a week.
Dacosta's, which opened at 40 Millbrook St. in 2016, announced the closure on Facebook on Friday. New owners would be taking over soon, the post said.
"It was short ........ it wasn’t always sweet. But the pizza was always legit," the restaurant wrote on Facebook.
Dacosta's is the latest in some comings-and-goings among Worcester restaurants, with C'Mondz Restaurant and 7 Nana on Shrewsbury Street and Wild Willy's Burgers on West Boylston Street closing in the past few months. Another Shrewsbury Street restaurant, simjang, closed at the end of 2019 with plans to reopen as a Mexican restaurant.
Dacosta's sparked some controversy in 2018 over labeling of its men's and women's restrooms, which were marked with photos of Bruce and Caitlyn Jenner, respectively. The restaurant was BYOB, something owner Marc Felicio told the Worcester Business Journal in 2018 was done so the restaurant could focus on pizza.
“I didn't want any other distractions," Felicio said. "That's how I envisioned this place to be.”
