Ransford Environmental Solutions, a Worcester company for more than a century, is leaving for Shrewsbury.
The company, now at 218 Chandler St. in Worcester, has bought a building at 786 Hartford Turnpike (Route 20) in Shrewsbury and intends to move there by the end of the year.
"Worcester is very important to us and will continue to be very important to us," said Debra Shear, a consultant for Ransford.
The company spent years looking for larger space but came up empty, Shear said. The two-story, 11,000-square-foot Shrewsbury office will nearly triple the amount of space Ransford has for its 15 employees.
Ransford will continue to serve Worcester and communities within a 25-mile radius.
The nearly $1.6-million sale, which closed last month, was announced Friday by Greater Boston Commercial Properties, which represented the seller, Foley Realty Trust.
The company was founded in 1896 by F. Ransford Brown as Ransford Insecticide, according to the company's website. Brown was a hotel chef who had success controlling pests there before going into the pest control business. It is now owned by Maria and Eric Richmond, and has been in the family for more than 40 years.
