Mental health nonprofit Genesis Club, founded in Worcester, on Tuesday announced the launch of an online community hub to support mental health.
Funded by $40,000 from the activation fund of the Health Foundation of Central Massachusetts, the new hub will provide informational videos, live chat for public visitors, and a private virtual workspace for staff and members of the club. The new hub is meant to increase mental health resource availability for those who cannot access the club’s physical location, according to a press release.
With the launch, Genesis Club will host a virtual celebration on July 22nd.
The soft launch of the hub in May doubled the organization’s online donations from the previous year, and 71% of traffic to the new website were first-time visitors.
Genesis Club was founded 1988 and runs on about $1.5 million in annual revenue, according to the nonprofit database Guidestar. It aims to provide a support community for anyone diagnosed with mental illness. The new hub was prompted by increased need for online literacy during the coronavirus pandemic.
