Worcester nonprofit group Matthew 25 Inc. is working with the Worcester Technical High School to build a LEED-certified “green home” in the city’s Main South neighborhood.
The 3,000-square foot house, on Benefit Terrace, will be modeled after a historic Victorian home in Holden, but will incorporate solar panels, environmentally friendly materials and a focus on efficient management of water, energy and waste. It will be an affordable home for two low-income families.
Consigli Construction Co. of Milford, Francis Harvey & Sons of Worcester and Iaccarino & Son Inc of Boylston have agreed to volunteer their time and expertise on the project, along with architects Gerald Sullivan of Shrewsbury and Larry Haley of Worcester.
