A Worcester manufacturer of packaging products is launching an e-commerce platform for customers who want to either purchase small quantities of flexible films, receive discounted pricing on bulk orders or get a quote.
Worcester’s Industrial Packaging’s new e-commerce function is scheduled to go live next month, according to the company, and customers will be able to make purchases through a software platform on the company’s website. The company did not disclose how much money it invested in the software platform.
The idea to add an e-commerce function is about two years in the making, but the company really started working towards it in March, said David Roberge, marketing manager. The company wanted to make it easier for clients to make smaller orders or get quotes, he said.
As of right now, orders will only be available for smaller orders of flexible films -- like shrink film, stretch wrap or air pillows, Roberge said -- but the plan is to eventually incorporate bulk orders. Customers who log on right now looking for bulk orders can do so through an online form and receive quotes with special pricing via email, call or live chat with dedicated sales reps, he said.
