Allegro MicroSystems LLC, a Worcester-based developer, manufacturer, and marketer of high-performance semiconductors, has promoted Ravi Vig to the position of president and chief operating officer. He succeeds Dennis H. Fitzgerald, who retired as president and chief executive officer on May 20.
Vig has been with the company since 1984, most recently serving as senior vice president of technology and business development. Since joining the company, he has been a crucial part of projects that have contributed to Allegro’s growth and success, according to a release from the company. The business development branch helped the company reach $500 million in revenue last year.
As part of his promotion, Vig was also named to the board of directors at Sanken North America Inc., a Delaware company that owns Allegro as a wholly-owned subsidiary. Fitzgerald was president of Sanken until his retirement, and will stay involved with the companies through the board of directors and as a management adviser until the end of 2016.
Going forward, Allegro will leverage its core technologies and manufacturing processes to create products for magnetic sensing and power ICs, Vig said in a statement.
