NyLa Laboratories, a Worcester startup based at Massachusetts Biomedical Initiatives, known more commonly as MBI, has received certification to open a lab for a COVID-19 diagnostic testing, according to a Tuesday announcement.
Testing will be conducted offsite with results analyzed within the NyLa Laboratories facility at MBI.Â
Nasal swab testing is the gold standard for COVID-19 testing, according to NyLa, but lengthy turnaround times spanning several days can occasionally make them less desirable. As the lab begins to process COVID-19 tests, the company hopes to make more reliable testing easier to use.
NyLa will run testing on nasal swabs and anticipates its results to be available within four to 24 hours of swabbing.Â
