Worcester investor buys Boston Globe's Millbury press building for $6M

The Boston Globe closed its Millbury printing press in 2016 when it opened a newer one in Taunton.
The Boston Globe has sold its former Millbury printing plant for $5.6 million, three years after it closed down the site.
The plant, at 9 Latti Farm Road off Route 20, was sold last month to Anthony Russell of 75 Southwest Cutoff in Worcester, who bought the property through the corporation Tonuse Inc.
The Globe closed the 20-year-old plant in 2016 when it opened a larger facility in Taunton. The Millbury plant dates to when The Globe owned the Worcester Telegram & Gazette, which it sold in 2014.
The Telegram & Gazette reported in 2016 the plant's closure led to about a dozen layoffs, with the majority of workers being transferred to Taunton. The new plant is 333,000 square feet, more than doubling the size of the Millbury building. The Globe bought the Taunton plant in 2015 for $20.3 million.
The 38-acre property in Millbury was last assessed by the town at $7.5 million.
Russell was one property owner who sold a 200-acre site in Grafton and Shrewsbury last fall to UPS for an 800,000-square-foot distribution facility.
