Soloe Dennis will become the new director of the City of Worcester’s Division of Public Health on Dec. 5.
Dennis replaces interim director Zachary Dyer, who has been in charge of the city’s public health department since Karyn Clark left her position to become the deputy town manager of Millbury, according to Worcester’s announcement on Tuesday.
Dennis will oversee Worcester Public Health’s daily operations as well as the Central Massachusetts Regional Public Health Alliance, a coalition including Worcester, Grafton, Millbury, Shrewsbury, and West Boylston. He will report to Dr. Matilde Castiel, the commissioner of the Department of Health and Human Services.
Previously, Dennis worked as the deputy commissioner for the Springfield Department of Health and Human Services. Before joining the City of Springfield in 2016, he worked as the director of local public health initiatives and as regional director for Western Massachusetts at the Massachusetts Department of Public Health.
