Binh An International Market, a grocery store on Green Street in Worcester, allegedly sold meat, poultry and egg products that had not gone through a health inspection, the U.S. Attorney's Office in Boston said Tuesday.
The store agreed to let U.S. Department of Agriculture investigators have "broad access" to the market to inspect inventory and records, the office announced. Any violations would lead to "significant monetary penalties," the office said.
Binh An, located at 64 Green St. in the Canal District, received five USDA notices since February 2013 for violations of federal food inspection laws, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office. The store allegedly did not have food inspected and did not keep records of their purchases of those products.
The consent decree has been filed in court and is awaiting judicial approval.
Acting United States Attorney William D. Weinreb said selling uninspected meat, poultry and eggs risks significant harm to consumers.
A worker who picked up the phone at Binh An on Tuesday afternoon hung up when asked about the allegations.
