Worcester, Fitchburg receive $550K for housing rehabilitation

The Gov. Charlie Baker Administration has given $2 million worth of grants for rehabilitation of aging houses in nine cities in Massachusetts through the Gateways Housing Rehabilitation Program, including Fitchburg and Worcester.

The Gateways Housing Rehabilitation Program is a new fund for communities within Massachusetts to support older housing in need of rehabilitation.

Both Worcester and Fitchburg were determined eligible by the Baker Administration for the financial support from the program, and both received $275,000 to support their withering housing. Worcester said the funding will be used to address two- to four-unit buildings that have housing and sanitary code issues, or are at risk of losing property insurance.
