Mass Megawatts Wind Power Inc., a wind turbine producer and wind energy vendor headquartered in Worcester, announced it is designing and implementing its patent-pending Solar Tracker during a Dec. 15 press release.

The 160-kilowatt project is designed to reduce the cost of solar power by employing a furling technology borrowed from wind technology for protection in the case of high wind events, according to the announcement.

Mass Megawatts will develop and install the solar power system with each system containing six, 300-watt rated panels.

The Solar Tracker is designed to automatically adjust the position of solar panels throughout the day to directly face the sun as it travels from east to west, significantly boosting solar energy production.

The project is expected to pay for itself within the next three to four years and will be situated in an undisclosed Worcester neighborhood.
