The Worcester Business Development Corp. has appointed Craig Blais as its new president effective April 2.
Blais, who has served as executive vice president since 1999, will take over for David Forsberg, who will remain with the organization as a senior adviser. Blais said in a statement that Forsberg will work on building the WBDC's new subsidiary corporation, New Garden Park Inc.
Blais takes the reins as the WBDC works on developing a theater district downtown. The organization recently purchased the Worcester Telegram & Gazette buildings and adjacent parking lots and is working on a downtown master plan with city development officials.
The WBDC has played a role in numerous developments in the region, from the Hanover Theatre revitalization in downtown Worcester to business parks in Shrewsbury and Grafton to Worcester Polytechnic Institute's Gateway Park.
