Worcester Credit Union appointed former executive vice president for Bay State Savings Bank in Worcester as interim president and CEO.

Lucas Miller has served in the financial sector for over 20 years, including leadership roles in community banking, national nonprofit consumer advocacy, and mortgage lending, according to a Tuesday press release from Worcester Credit Union.

Miller will fill in for Lisa Perrin, who served as president and CEO of the credit union for five years, and will be departing later in July.

“As I embark onto a new chapter, know that working with you all has been an honor and I am forever grateful and proud of the experiences our collaboration has provided,” Perrin said in the press release. “I’m confident that Worcester Credit Union will continue successfully and seamlessly through this transition with great success.”

Miller served as executive vice president and general counsel of Bay State Savings Bank in Worcester from 2013 to 2023, according to his LinkedIn profile. Previously, he served as director of compliance and grants at housing service nonprofit Neighborhood Assistance Corporation of America in Boston.

Miller has served on the finance committee at North Central Massachusetts Habitat for Humanity and has spent time assisting with the formation of a nonprofit aimed at promoting standards for substance addiction recovery services, according to the WCU press release. He has represented individuals as a volunteer attorney.

He received his bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Worcester State University and his juris doctor from Suffolk University Law School in Boston.

“We are excited to be working with Lucas during this transition and to continue doing what we do best, assisting the members and our communities we serve in ‘Reaching financial success together,’” Robert Hennigan, board chair of Worcester Credit Union, said in the press release.
