Worcester County on Tuesday had the lowest increase in new coronavirus cases since the end of March with 57 new cases, while Massachusetts also saw significantly low increases, according to the Massachusetts Department of Public Health.
As of Tuesday, cases in Worcester County rose less than 1%, bringing the total to 10,557. Massachusetts also saw the lowest increase since March, with 422 new cases. After Sunday's higher numbers, these low numbers come after Memorial Day's sudden decrease with 74 new cases in Worcester County, and 596 within the state.
Worcester County recorded relatively lower fatalities Tuesday with eight increasing the total to 700. Massachusetts also saw lower death numbers with 57, increasing the overall to 6,473.
The Department of Public Health also reports 4,920 new coronavirus tests performed Tuesday, and 545,481 total.
The City of Worcester also recorded a low number with a below 1% increase of 15 cases extending the total to 4,000. The numbers the city reported are the lowest since March.
UMass Memorial Health Care and Saint Vincent Hospital in Worcester recorded 198 total cases, with 84 in intensive care. There have been 256 total coronavirus related deaths between the hospitals, and 309 employees have tested positive.
MetroWest Medical Center in Natick and Framingham reported a total of 56 suspected and confirmed cases, and Milford Regional Medical Center reported 17 according to the Massachusetts Department of Public Health. In total, there are 17 cases in intensive care. Harrington Hospital, Heywood Hospital, and HealthAlliance Hospital in Leominster reported 37 confirmed or suspected cases with 10 in the ICU.
Nationally, there are almost 1.7 million cases and almost 99,000 deaths, according to Johns Hopkins University in Maryland. Globally, there are over 5.5 million cases and 348,610 fatalities.
