Worcester County has 14 new COVID deaths, 255 new cases reported Tuesday

Worcester County had 14 newly reported coronavirus-related deaths Tuesday and 255 new cases, according to the Massachusetts Department of Public Health.

The new cases brought the total to 4,999, a 5% increase from Monday. Statewide the cases rose by 1,840, or 3%, to 58,302 overall. 

The 14 new deaths contribute to Worcester County’s total of 229. Massachusetts coronavirus related death toll increased by 150 adding to the tally of 3,153.

The Department of Public Health also reported 9,613 new coronavirus tests conducted with a total of 254,500 as of Tuesday. 

The City of Worcester reported 1,910 cases Tuesday. This is a one-day 6% increase from Monday with 104 new cases. 

UMass Memorial Health and Saint Vincent Hospital in Worcester report 266 coronavirus cases, with 103 patients in the ICU. Four new coronavirus related deaths have been reported bringing the total death toll at the hospitals to 95, and five new employees have tested positive bringing the total to 160.

The DCU Center field hospital in Worcester now reports having 35 patients Tuesday after eight were discharged Monday. 

The U.S has reached an unfortunate milestone of more than 1 million reported coronavirus cases, and 58,126 deaths, according to John Hopkins University in Maryland. Worldwide, there are more than 3 million cases reported, with more than 215,000 deaths.
