In congruence with the statewide average, the price of gasoline in Worcester County decreased since Aug. 10.
Dropping 16 cents from a month ago, the average price of regular unleaded gasoline in Worcester County fell from $3.42 per gallon to $3.26 as of Tuesday. The region’s average is the same as the state’s, which dropped 17 cents from its $3.43 average on Aug. 10, according to the travel association AAA Northeast.
The current Worcester County average is 48 cents lower than it was a year ago when the average gas price sat at $3.73 per gallon, a price 1 cent lower than the state’s $3.74 average from a year ago.
AAA Northeast credits falling gas prices to the end of summer, resulting in increased supply, cheaper crude, and decreased demand.
“That’s a recipe for falling gas prices,” Mark Schieldrop, senior spokesperson, AAA Northeast senior spokesperson, said in the release.
The state and region’s average gas price are 1 cent lower than the nation’s average of $3.27 per gallon, an average 18 cents lower than a month ago and 55 cents lower than last year.
