Worcester County gas prices have hit a steady stride in 2025, with regular gas prices remaining virtually unchanged for the past month.
Averaging at $3.00 per gallon of regular unleaded since Jan. 26, the county’s gasoline prices mirror a statewide trend. Massachusetts gas has cost customers an average of $3.03 a gallon for the past month, a price consistently lower than the nation’s average, which sat at $3.12 a month ago, rising to $3.16 last week, and totalling $3.13 today, according to AAA Fuel Prices. Worcester’s price is $0.14 cents lower than the same day last year.
The region’s and state’s stabilized rates are due to abundant supply, steady production, and mounting concerns regarding a slowing economy, according to a Monday press release from AAA Northeast.
In addition, demand has eased with the drop in temperature, with gasoline falling to 8.23 million barrels per day last week, a decrease of 338,000 barrels compared to the week prior, AAA reported using data from the U.S. Energy Information Administration.
“Domestic refiners are beginning to face the potential for an oversupply of winter blended fuel, and that’s helping keep prices in check as we enter the waning weeks of winter,” Mark Schieldrop, senior spokesperson for AAA Northeast, said in the release. “Eventually, prices will climb as the more expensive summer blend begins to appear on the market in the coming weeks.”
Today, Worcester County’s average represents the fifth-cheapest gas prices in the state, falling in line behind Bristol, Plymouth, Franklin, and Hampden counties when ranked from least to most expensive.
Nantucket County has the highest prices in the state, with gas averaging $4.31 per gallon.
