Worcester County Food Bank

Future Goals

2. Continue to advocate for increased economic opportunity and access to healthy food.

Fundraising Events/Opportunities

Fund and food drives are powerful ways individuals and organizations can support Worcester County Food Bank. Either hosting or supporting such a drive is a great way to stand with neighbors struggling with hunger. We’ll gladly offer helpful tools to make your drive a success! Your support is important and appreciated year-round.

The Fund to End Hunger at Greater Worcester Community Foundation
In partnership with the Greater Worcester Community Foundation, the Food Bank has established the Worcester County Fund to End Hunger, which awards grants to nonprofit organizations that share the vision of creating hunger-free communities and work towards that goal through innovative and sustainable solutions. For more information on how you can support the Fund or receive support from it, please contact us.

Volunteer Opportunities

Food Sorting
Volunteers are crucial to supporting Worcester County Food Bank’s mission. Last year, volunteers devoted over 4,300 hours to sorting and inspecting food at our distribution center in Shrewsbury. Individuals with regular weekday availability are encouraged to apply. We also welcome volunteer groups at times throughout the year.

Volunteering with our Partner Agencies
If you live in another part of Worcester County and wish to volunteer for an organization that’s working to alleviate hunger, there may be opportunities for you with one of our Partner Agencies. Partner Agencies – food pantries and community meal programs throughout the region – are largely volunteer-run. Many welcome support from volunteers.

Hunger happens not because there isn’t enough food to go around but because people lack access to it. Worcester County Food Bank is working to address our neighbors’ needs right now, plus – through its advocacy efforts – championing sustainable, systemic solutions to the problem of hunger.
