The Worcester County coronavirus death toll has risen by 19, bringing the death toll to more than 400 with 214 new cases reported on Friday, according to Massachusetts Department of Public Health data.
Friday’s 19 deaths follow this week's high daily death increase with 34 on Wednesday, and 20 on Thursday. In total, Worcester County has had 404 coronavirus-related deaths. Statewide, the death toll increased by 150 bringing the total to 4,704.
The 214 new cases in Worcester County is a 3% rise from Thursday, and the case total is now 7,410. Across Massachusetts there was a 2% rise of 1,612 cases, adding to the total of 75,333.
The Department of Public Health reported 14,391 new administered coronavirus tests with 366,023 overall.
The city of Worcester had an increase in cases by 75 on Friday, or 2%, contributing to the total 2,773.
UMass Memorial Health Care and Saint Vincent Hospital in Worcester report 278 hospitalized cases Friday, with 112 in the ICU. In total, the hospitals have had 155 coronavirus-related deaths, and 234 of their employees have tested positive.
Metrowest Medical Center in Natick and Framingham reported 58 suspected and confirmed cases, and Milford Regional Medical Center reported 41, according to the Massachusetts Department of Public Health.
Other Central Massachusetts hospitals such as Harrington Hospital, Heywood Hospital, and HealthAlliance in Leominster report 29 total suspected and confirmed cases.
Nationally, there are now almost 1.3 million coronavirus cases, and 76,901 deaths, according to Johns Hopkins University in Maryland. Throughout the world, there are almost 4 million cases and more than 273,000 deaths.
