Worcester County recorded 15 new coronavirus cases and nine fatalities Wednesday, according to the Massachusetts Department of Public Health.
The new cases add to the 12,207 total in the county since the pandemic began. Throughout Massachusetts, there were 172 new probable and confirmed cases on Wednesday, bringing the overall total to 107,619.
The nine new fatalities within Worcester County added to the total tally of 914 deaths. Statewide, there were 48 newly confirmed and probable fatalities with 7,938 overall.
DPH reported 7,901 newly administered coronavirus tests on Wednesday.
As of June 18, the City of Worcester reported 47 new coronavirus cases bringing its total to 5,115. An update on the city’s coronavirus numbers was not yet available Thursday morning.
UMass Memorial Health Care and Saint Vincent Hospital in Worcester reported 61 inpatients, including 17 in the intensive care unit.
MetroWest Medical Center in Framingham and Natick reported 30 suspected and confirmed cases, and Milford Regional Medical Center reported 19. In total, the hospitals reported three suspected and confirmed cases in intensive care. Other Central Massachusetts hospitals including Heywood Hospital and Health Alliance in Leominster reported eight suspected and confirmed cases, and eight in the ICU.
Nationally, there are more than 2.3 million coronavirus cases, and 121,969 fatalities, according to Johns Hopkins University in Maryland. Globally, case numbers are now above 9.4 million with 482,162 deaths.
