Worcester County coronavirus death toll rises to 790 on Tuesday

Worcester County had 86 new coronavirus cases reported Tuesday and 11 new fatalities, according to the Massachusetts Department of Public Health.

New cases Tuesday bring the total to 11,438 reported cases in Worcester County since March. Statewide, probable and confirmed cases increase the total to 101,163.

Deaths in Worcester County now total 790. Throughout Massachusetts, there have been a total of 7,085 total confirmed and probable coronavirus patients who have died, up 50 on Tuesday.

DPH reported 6,737 new molecular and antibody coronavirus tests administered Tuesday.

The City of Worcester reported the lowest increase in new coronavirus cases since March with 11 new cases, bringing the total to 4,215.

UMass Memorial Health Care and Saint Vincent Hospital in Worcester report 143 total coronavirus patients in their hospitals on Tuesday and 55 in intensive care. Between the hospitals there have been 288 total deaths and 335 employees have tested positive for the virus to date.

MetroWest Medical Center in Natick and Framingham report a total of 32 suspected or confirmed cases, and Milford Regional Medical Center reports 11, according to DPH. Overall, those hospitals have 11 in intensive care. Harrington Hospital, Heywood Hospital, and HealthAlliance in Leominster report 25 suspected or confirmed cases and seven in the ICU.

Nationally, there are 1.8 million cases and more than 106,000 fatalities, according to Johns Hopkins University in Maryland. Globally, there are over 6.3 million cases and roughly 378,266 total deaths.
