Cases within Worcester County had a large uptake in coronavirus cases with 342 new cases Thursday. The total number of cases in Worcester County is now 3,798, according to Massachusetts Department of Public Health data.
Worcester County had 12 new reported deaths, bringing the total so far to 155.
Cases within Worcester County rose by 10% in one day, while cases statewide rose by 3,079, or 7% bringing the Massachusetts total to 46,023.
The Department of Public Health also reported 14,614 new coronavirus tests conducted with 195,076 total.
Within the City of Worcester, it is reported there are now 1,542 total cases Thursday, up 97, or 7%. This is a smaller increase than Wednesday's large 17% rise in cases within Worcester.
The DCU Center field hospital in Worcester had, as of Thursday, 77 patients total, with 53 patients being homeless. Saint Vincent Hospital and UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester had 238 confirmed coronavirus cases Thursday, 88 of which are in the intensive care unit .
Other hospitals have also seen rising cases, according to the Massachusetts Department of Public Health.
HealthAlliance in Leominster has 23 confirmed or suspected cases, four of which are in intensive care. Harrington Hospital in Southbridge has eight cases, including four in the ICU, and Heywood Hospital in Gardner has 14 cases, including four in the ICU.
Marlborough Hospital has 19 and five, respectively, and Milford Regional Medical Center has 38 and eight.
According to John Hopkins University in Maryland, throughout the U.S, 856,000 cases have been reported with more the 47,000 deaths. Worldwide, confirmed cases remain above 2.6 million and have increased to over 187,000 deaths.
