A COVID-19 testing site opened in the parking lot of the Walmart at 25 Tobias Boland Way in Worcester, the company announced in a Thursday press release.
The testing is being facilitated by eTrueNorth, with support from Walmart, as well as state and local officials. Anyone who meets U.S. Centers for Disease Control & Prevention and local guidelines for testing may make an appointment. This includes first responders, healthcare providers, those with coronavirus symptoms and high-risk groups without symptoms, Walmart said in a statement.
The new testing center opened just days after some 18 Sam's Club distribution center employees and contractors from an adjacent facility tested positive for COVID-19. A Sam's Club spokeswoman said testing was made available to employees before the eTrueNorth site was opened up to the public.
The site will utilize similar testing techniques to those set up in area drugstore parking lots. Patients will self-administer tests from their car while being observed by a medical professional. eTrueNorth will process the tests and notify patients of their results, Walmart said.
Walk-ups will not be accepted at this testing site, which will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
Those interested in making an appointment should visit www.DoINeedaCOVID19test.
