A religious staple of Worcester since it was built in 1875 has changed hands for $1.7 million dollars and will now house the Presbyterian Church of Ghana.
The church at 5 Chestnut St. in Worcester was sold by the Liberty Assembly of God to the new owners on January 29. The 35,400-square-foot church, located near downtown, sits on 1.4 acres and includes 100 on-site parking spaces, according to Kelleher & Sadowsky Associates, which represented the sellers.
The Presbyterian Church of Ghana plans to use the building for weekly worship activities. The purchase of the building will allow the Church to move from its current location at 49 Lafayette St. in Worcester. J & D Properties of Oakham represented Presbyterian Church of Ghana on the purchase of the property.
