After working for the city for more than 34 years, Eileen Cazaropoul is retiring as Worcester’s Chief Information Officer, the city announced on Tuesday.
Cazaropoul began working for the city in 1986, in the technical services department. She rose through the ranks until she was named CIO in May 2018.
Her final day on the job will be May 28.
“I am proud of my team and the many accomplishments we have achieved,” Cazaropoul said in a statement. “We continue to move the city ahead with technology solutions. All the accomplishments are the hard work and dedication of the entire technical services team.”
In her position, Cazaropoul oversees a $5.7-million operating and capital budget, as well as 34 staff members, according to a press release from the city. Her department was tasked with, most recently, enabling the more than 650 who work for Worcester to work from home during the coronavirus pandemic.
The search to replace Cazaropoul is expected to begin immediately.
