Worcester brewery tops U.S. Open contest

Wormtown Brewery of Worcester has been named grand national champion of this year’s United States Open Beer Championship, a contest in which brewers vie for honors in 81 different categories.

Wormtown, founded in 2010, captured three gold medals and a silver, the best performance among entries from throughout the world. The contest included more than 3,000 entries.

Wormtown received gold in the following categories (product name is in parentheses):

  • Imperial IPA (Hopulence);
  • American IPA (Be Hoppier); and
  • French/Belgian Ale (Biere de Miele).

The silver medal came from the French/Belgian Sasion category (ALS Farmhouse Fundraiser).
