The Worcester Bravehearts, who are set to begin their season on Thursday, will not play at College of the Holy Cross' Hanover Insurance Park at Fitton Field, team General Manager Dave Peterson confirmed on Monday.
While the school remains closed due to the coronavirus pandemic, Peterson said the Bravehearts will have more information about the team's new ballpark on Monday, July 6.
It was just one week ago that the Futures Collegiate Baseball League announced it would begin its season on Thursday. The season is set to include 39 games and conclude on Aug. 19.
The 2020 season marks the 10th Futures League season, according to the league's announcement. The six teams scheduled to play are the Worcester Bravehearts, Brockton Rox, North Shore Navigators and Westfield Starfires from Massachusetts, as well as the New Britain Bees in Connecticut and Nashua Silver Knights in New Hampshire, which is owned by the same ownership group as the Bravehearts.
The first Bravehearts home game is scheduled for July 11, against New Britain. A location for the game has not yet been made public.
