The Worcester area added 1,600 jobs in February, bumping total employment to 280,300. This is a 0.9-percent increase from February 2016.
While February’s numbers are up, employment is still the lowest it has been since March of last year when total employment was 279,600 jobs.
Leominster-Gardner employment stayed pretty much stagnant in February but its yearly increase was similar to Worcester’s at 0.8 percent. The Framingham area, on the other hand, lost 900 jobs in February but is still up 0.5 percent from last year.
Boston added 4,000 jobs, an increase of 1.7-percent from February 2016. Massachusetts added a total of 15,900 jobs in February, a 1.6-percent increase from last year.
