Worcester airport gets $7.7M

The Worcester Airport has received a $7,749,620 federal grant that will grow the flight capacity with an additional taxiway.

The new taxiway will allow the airport serve more passengers and business travelers, according to Congressman Jim McGovern, who helped secure the funding.

The money is the latest in an ongoing rush of funding into the airport, with a $1.4-million grant from the Federal Aviation Administration funding new runway lighting being the most recent example.
