A $2.1-million rehabilitation project is underway on the northern end of Taxiway B at the Worcester Regional Airport, the Massachusetts Port Authority announced on Monday.
The majority of the funding for the project, which is not expected to impact flights, is covered by a grant from the Federal Aviation Administration.Â
Taxiway B is the longest taxiway at the Worcester airport, per the announcement. A 1,250-foot-long section of it will be milled and repaved as part of the rehabilitation. Additionally, a new LED edge lighting system and guidance signage will be installed, and the taxiway’s edges will be redesigned.
Massport took over the airport in 2010 and reports having spent more than $100 million on subsequent improvements.
