Six Worcester agencies have received $359,000 to help address mental health needs in Central Massachusetts.

The Greater Worcester Community Foundation announced the donations through its Fairlawn Foundation Fund on Wednesday. The fund focuses on mental health initiatives, including those closing service gaps or increasing the number of mental health professionals or paraprofessionals.

This year's recipients are:

  • Arms With Ethics, for support of its Worcester Veteran Engagement Program, a pilot project aimed at partnering with local veterans groups to create peer engagement around safe gun storage during a mental health crisis.
  • Children’s Friend Inc., an affiliate of the Seven Hills Foundation, for support of its Gender Wellness Initiative, which provides mental health resources and support for LGBTQI children and teens.
  • HOPE Coalition, for support of a partnership providing early-childhood trauma response for families with young children who are exposed to violence.
  • The Bridge of Central Massachusetts, for creation of a collaborative pipeline to expand the available workforce of mental health staff.
  • The CASA Project, which uses volunteer advocates to help address systemic issues and barriers to mental health for children in foster care.
  • YOU Inc., to increase the availability of clinical mental health services to youth and families through the use of tele-psychiatry.
