Ronald Cino, the associate head of Worcester Academy, has been named the next head of the school. He will replace long-time head of school Dexter Morse, who will retire in July.
Cino will become the 31st head of the 177-year-old school, which serves grades six through 12 and postgraduates.
Cino joined the school in 2001 as director of college counseling, and recently served as acting head of the upper school last year.
Three finalists from a field of 17 candidates identified through a nationwide search process visited the school and met with parents, students, faculty and alumni before Cino was chosen by the school's board of trustees on Oct. 22.
The school's enrollment has grown by more than double in the last 15 years.
