Worcester Academy has named a new leader of the private school who will begin his term next July.
The school’s new head will be Kevin Breen, who for the past eight years has been the head of a private school in Duluth, Minn. Breen is a Massachusetts native who grew up in

Westwood and was previously the enrollment director at the Brooks School in North Andover.
Breen, whose appointment was announced Tuesday, will succeed Ronald Cino, who will continue to lead Worcester Academy through the end of the school year, ending a nine-year term as the school’s top official. Worcester Academy, which has more than 500 students, completed a nearly $53-million capital campaign under Cino’s leadership in 2016.
Breen will be the 32nd head of school for Worcester Academy, which teaches students in grades 6-12. Breen has a bachelor’s in American Studies from the University of Notre Dame in Indiana and a master’s in writing from DePaul University in Chicago. He was chosen unanimously by Worcester Academy’s board of trustees and chosen from among 51 applicants for the job.
