The Worcester Red Sox and the City of Worcester jointly announced parking plans for Polar Park on Monday in advance of the team's first home game on May 11, including a variety of publicly and privately-owned parking options spanning up to a 10-minute walk away from the stadium.
The plan accounts for 7,300 spaces in total, with planners projecting 2,500 spots will be used when the park is at full capacity, when accounting for car pooling and other transportation options to the 9,508-capacity stadium.
According to the announcement, there are at least 24 parking lots and garages expected to account for a total of 7,302 available spaces. Half of those parking areas are owned by the City of Worcester and will be priced at $5, $10 or $15, depending on how close they are to Polar Park. Private lots will set their own pricing.
The team and city will designate special drop-off areas for people with disabilities, and will also designate appropriate nearby parking.
A 350-space parking garage across the street from the park, which was delayed because of the coronavirus pandemic and is expected to be up and running by September, will provide additional spaces in addition to the roughly 7,300, according to Monday’s parking plan announcement.
Not sure if I will get an answer but will ask anyway. Will there be a shuttle from lots to Park?
