Tyler Murray, the television and radio play-by-play broadcaster for the Worcester Red Sox since 2022, has been named the new radio voice of the New York Knicks for the upcoming National Basketball Association season.

MSG Network, the New York-based regional sports network led by Knicks owner James Dolan, has hired Murray to broadcast all 82 regular season games and potential playoff matchups for ESPN New York radio, according to a WooSox press release issued Thursday.

Murray’s role with MSG Network will involve filling in on television broadcasts when needed, as current Knicks television voices Mike Breen and Kenny Albert both have additional broadcasting duties for national networks.

Murray has been a part of WooSox television and radio broadcasts for the prior three seasons. WooSox games are broadcast on television and streaming on either NESN or NESN+, and on the radio via the WooSox/Cumulus Radio Network.

“I’ve dreamed of calling Knicks games for as long as I can remember, so my family and I couldn't be more excited," Murray said in the press release. “The WooSox took a chance on me three years ago, and I’m so grateful for the experiences I’ve had and the friendships I’ve made at Polar Park. I'm proud to continue the incredible tradition of Red Sox Triple-A broadcasters taking the next step in their professional careers."

Murray joined the Boston Red Sox radio broadcast crew for around 25 games this season and was the primary broadcaster for NCAA Hockey East conference games on NESN this prior season. A graduate of Boston University, Murray has prior experience calling games for the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, a Double-A affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays.

Murray joins 13 other former WooSox or Pawtucket Red Sox announcers who then moved on to broadcasting games for teams playing in major professional leagues, including former Boston Red Sox and current San Diego Padres broadcaster Don Orsillo.

The WooSox final home game of the 2024 season was held Sunday, a 4-3 victory over the Syracuse Mets. Sitting 4.5 games out of the playoffs, the team will finish their regular season with a six-game trip to Allentown, Pennsylvania to take on the Lehigh Valley IronPigs, an affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies.
