The $25 million fundraising goal to upgrade Milford Regional Medical Center’s facilities has received a boost that brings it close to fulfillment.
An anonymous donor has given the medical center’s “Excellence” campaign a $1 million matching challenge gift, the Milford Regional Healthcare Foundation announced today.
The campaign has already raised $23 million to support the medical center’s building project. The dollar-for-dollar challenge gift means that if the foundation raises another $1 million in donations, it will have reached the $25 million goal.
The initiative will result in a new emergency department, intensive care unit and private patient rooms, the foundation said. The two-story structure, expected to open this fall, will increase the size of the emergency department from 30 to 50 private treatment rooms; increase the number of patient rooms in the ICU from 10 to 16; and add a 24-bed private room unit, with the intent to convert all hospital patient rooms to private.
