According to the American Wind Energy Association , the U.S. wind energy industry installed more than 5,000 megawatts of wind-generated power in 2007.
The association said the new installations expanded the country’s wind power generating capacity by 44 percent. The country’s total wind power generating capacity is now 16,800 megawatts.
2007 was the industry’s third consecutive year of growth, the association said.
