Wholesale Inventories Down 1.5% In February

Wholesale inventories dropped 1.5 percent as sales increased 0.6 percent in February, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.

The falling ratio of inventories to sales indicates that excess supply that caused businesses to cut back on production may have begun selling to less weary customers, bringing supply back into line with demand.

Still, overall sales were down 14.3 percent compared to February 2008.
