Miach Orthopaedics Inc., a Westborough firm specializing in surgical implants for connective tissue repair, has appointed Patrick McBrayer as president and CEO, the company announced on Wednesday.
McBrayer replaces Christopher Joyce, who was serving as interim president and CEO after Martha Shadan left the company in June. Joyce will return to his prior position as CFO.
Prior to joining Miach, McBrayer served as president and CEO of Maryland biotech firm, ACell, Inc., and AxioMed Spine Corp. in Marlborough, among other companies.
“We’re excited to welcome Patrick, who has a long track record of leading early-stage companies. His knowledge and experience will be invaluable as Miach continues to disrupt the treatment of ACL tears with the BEAR Implant,” said Joyce Erony, chairwoman of the Miach board of directors and managing partner at New York City venture-capital firm, Amzak Health.
The company produces the Bridge-Enhanced ACL Restoration, or BEAR implant, which attaches two ends of a torn ligament together so that it may heal. It is an alternative to ligament reconstruction, according to a Wednesday press release.
