Westborough Man Indicted For Espionage

A Westborough man has been arrested on more than a dozen counts of economic espionage and transporting stolen property to a foreign nation, according to a spokesperson for the U.S. Attorney's office in Boston.

According to Christina Sterling, a spokesman for the U.S. Attorney's Office in Boston, Kexue Huang of Westborough was charged with:

  • 12 counts of economic espionage to benefit a foreign government
  • 5 counts of interstate or foreign transportation of stolen property

Sterling also said that Huang most recently worked at Qteros in Marlborough. However, the charges stem from his time working for Dow Chemical in Indiana between 2003 and 2008. Dow also has operations in Marlborough.

Huang appeared in U.S. District Court in Worcester on Monday for a detention hearing, in which a judge considered whether to keep Huang locked up or to release him. The judge did not make a decision today.

Huang will either be released and ordered to appear in U.S. District Court in Southern Indiana or he will be taken there in custody.
