Aeronaut Brewing and Julio’s Liquors announced that they’re collaborating on a new beer to be sold exclusively at the Westborough liquor store and on draught at Firefly’s BBQ in Marlborough.
The beer from the Somerville brewery is a New England IPA called Attack of the Skrims. It features US Citra, Amatillo and Galaxy hops and, in the dry-hopping process, New Zealand Rakau hops and a small amount of U.S. Citra hops to go along with a stable and neutral malt bill of pilsner malt, flaked oats, torrified wheat and maltodextrin, which is a sugar-substitute used to enhance a beer’s mouthfeel, head retention, and body.
The overall effect is a New England IPA with a silky mouthfeel courtesy of the flaked oats and maltodextrin and a stone fruit nose and tropical taste courtesy of the hop bill. The beer comes in at 6.3% alcohol by volume.
The collaboration features artwork by Aeronaut’s Adam Falandy’s and the name of the beer comes from Julio’s own Nick Simpson’s band called The Skrims, according to a press release.
