Westborough joint sealant manufacturer acquired by $6B Swiss firm

Westborough joint-and-sealant manufacturer Emseal Joint Systems has been acquired by a Swiss chemical sealant company.

No purchase price was disclosed, but Switzerland-based Sika said the acquisition will allow the company to further expand into the North American construction market.

“The acquisition perfectly complements Sika’s range of sealing and bonding products and offers extensive cross-selling opportunities for other Sika technologies,” the company said in a press release Wednesday.

Sika said it has annual sales of about $5.85 billion, compared to Emseal’s $40 million.

CORRECTION: An earlier version of this story incorrectly stated that Emseal’s annual revenue was $4 million.
