The Westborough-based accounting and consulting firm Stowe & Degon LLC has expanded its business to include an internal audit and forensic services practice.
The practice will be led by Philip Benvenuti, the former senior director of internal audit at Fallon Community Health Plan in Worcester, Stowe & Degon said. Benvenuti will oversee the internal audit function, fraud investigations and audit compliance.
Michael Stowe, partner at Stowe & Degon, said in a statement that businesses desperately need an internal audit function but often lack the budgets to staff full-time, in-house departments.
"Smaller SEC registrants, venture capital-financed private technology companies, companies that are preparing themselves for acquisition, and small insurance companies are among the organizations that are crying out for this need," the company said.
