Westborough energy co. launches new storage device

Westborough-based NEC Energy Solutions on Tuesday introduced a new energy storage system that allows its customers to offer new energy management services to their commercial and industrial enterprises.

NEC’s new platform, which is scalable from 85 to 510 kilowatt hours of energy storage capacity, allows commercial developers and utility companies to deliver advanced energy storage solutions at the grid edge. Utilities can use it to make distributed renewable generation run more smoothly, shave grid demand peaks, make system utilization more efficient and control distributed assets. It offers from 30 to 650 kilowatts of power capability, according to NEC ES.

The product will be sold by a global partner network with renewable energy experience. It is expected to become commercially available in the first quarter of 2017 in North America, with a global rollout planned for later on in the year.
