Coventry Associates has been awarded a $200,000 grant that the West Boylston startup will use to develop an industrial robot.
The 2016 START small business innovation research grant from MassVentures is part of $3 million in funding awarded to 17 companies across Massachusetts with the goal to push cutting edge companies forward toward manufacturing and commercialization of their products.
"The START Program help companies bridge the gap between innovation and commercialization, supporting research, development, and manufacturing jobs in Massachusetts," Massachusetts Housing and Economic Development Secretary Jay Ash said in a statement.
Coventry Associates received a $100,000 Stage I grant last year. This year's Stage II grant will help fund work to design, build and test an industrial robot, according to President Craig Gardner. This work will help the company move toward commercialization and close orders totaling $6.5 million.
