Werner Poegel is a long-time broadcasting professional and also runs the local online news company Web-Tech Online Magazines. Now, Central Broadcasting Co. LLC of Fitchburg has hired him as general manager of talk station WPKZ. In this Q&A, Poegel talks about the station's new FM signal, and the importance of a good night's rest.

Q. How are you settling in at your new office?
A. I am settling in well. The station has very nice facilities.
Q. What challenges do you see in your new position?
A. Getting the radio station noticed in the community and promoting the new FM signal we have at 105.3 FM.
Q. What's your favorite thing about Central Massachusetts?
A. The fact you can get from urban to rural in just a few minutes with some of the finest businesses, restaurants, and minds at our disposal.
Q. How close is this to what you imagined in high school you'd end up doing?
A. I had decided to go to school for broadcasting and have 30+ years experience in and out of it, so it fits right in.
Q. How far is your commute to the office?
A. About 20 minutes.
Q. What could local and state governments do to make things better for your business?
A. Keep the operating environment business friendly with lower taxes.
Q. What's the best way to keep your energy and motivation up when you're having a long day?
A. I am self-motivated, but the best solution is to make sure to get a good night's sleep.
Q. Where's the best place to get lunch near your new location?
A. Our station represents many fine restaurants so I find it difficult to choose.
Q. What's on your to-do list for the next couple of days?
A. Promoting the station to prospective advertisers.
