The MassDOT is encouraging weekend travelers to avoid Route 95 and 128 near the “old” Highland Avenue Bridge over the two roads.
The portion of Route 95 just south of the Mass Pike will be affected for the entire weekend, according to a release from the MassDOT.
Demolition operations will first occur on the east side of the bridge over I-95 Northbound, from Friday evening to Saturday afternoon. This will be followed by work on the west side of the bridge over I-95 Southbound, from Saturday evening to early Monday morning. MassDOT anticipates that there will be a period of time on Saturday afternoon when both I-95 North and Southbound are detoured on offramps and surface streets.
Drivers are encouraged to avoid the area if possible.
