Galaxy Links, LLC, registered to Galaxy Development principal Michael O’Brien, has purchased Sutton’s Pleasant Valley Country Club.
The terms of the sale of the golf course business were not disclosed. However, the Galaxy Links on Wednesday finalized the purchase of the properties at 95, 56, and 100 Armsby Road in Sutton, which includes the location of Pleasant Valley Country Club and surrounding land. That land deal totaled $3.5 million, according to the Worcester District Registry of Deeds.
“The Club has a very competent team of professional employees and we want to keep that in place,” O’Brien told WBJ via email on Thursday.
Pleasant Valley Country Club was opened in 1961 and was once a stop on the PGA and LPGA tours. It was put up for sale in 2019, but taken off the market in 2020 by then owners, siblings John Magill and Elizabeth Shropshire, who were the sellers in Wednesday’s land deal with Galaxy.
Magill and Shropshire, through a corporation registered to them called 95 Armsby Road LLC, purchased 95 Armsby Road for $5 million in 2010 from Bank of New England in a foreclosure deal. Magill Associates Inc. purchased 56 and 100 Armsby Road in 2013 for $525,000, according to the Town of Sutton Online Assessment Database.
The Town of Sutton assesses 95 Armsby Road at $5.8 million, 100 Armsby Road for $396,600, and 56 Armsby Road for $242,500.
The Galaxy family of companies, based in Webster and run by O’Brien, includes Galaxy Development and Galaxy Life Sciences. Galaxy Development builds shopping plazas, including The Trolley Yard in Worcester and Pleasant Valley Crossing in Sutton. Galaxy Life Sciences is building a $50-million biomanufacturing facility at The Reactory campus in Worcester.
Great purchase, and a strong buyer. Good article.
Great match up of property and Buyer. Good luck with the project.
