WBJ Talk Back In The Sept. 13, 2010 Issue

“I agree that consumers 21 years of age should be allowed to purchase wines online, regardless of which USA state the wine is shipping from.”

howard@bottlenose-wine.com on an op-ed piece that ran in the Aug. 30 edition about a failed attempt to change a law prohibiting Massachusetts wineries to ship their goods direct to consumers.

“We cannot rely on the media to be a partner in this recovery because they are driven by their own bottom line and they know that bad news sells better than good news. The one thing that drives an economy is the behavior of its participants. To change the economy we need to change our behavior. To change our behavior, we need to change our thinking. To behave positively, we need to think positively.”

Ken Halkin on a WBJ Daily Report item about a small business survey conducted by Citi that found a majority of business owners are expecting a double-dip recession.

“These reps spend thousands of dollars per year wining and dining doctors, costs that are passed on to patients in the form of higher drug costs. Why should we have to pay for these doctors to be wooed by a free meal then by the effectiveness of the drugs they prescribe?”

South Street Johnny on an article in the Aug. 16 edition about the impact of a pharmaceutical gift ban in the state on local restaurants.
